Epiphone Triumph Regent Jazz Guitar Carved spruce top and carved maple back, all-original guitar except possibly the bound tortoise shell pickguard was replaced decades ago - looks right, but I believe it's a replacement. Very loud, lively exxample - these can be hit or miss for sound and this one is exceptional. Crack-free with no repairs other than some loose binding fixed in a few (minor) places, the Frequensator tailpiece is intact with no cracks in the hinge, etc., top has no "sag" and the neck is streat, action great. These are still bargains, for an old U.S.A.-made cutaway carved-top guitar. A very cool guitar, with original brown hardshell case. Just in... Epiphone Broadway Carved-top jazz guitar, rare maple back and sides (not walnut), just about perfect all-original condition - never saw the light of day - no ambering, lacquer checking etc. - looks like the day it was made. The original plush hard case is near-perfect too. Has the fancy pearl inlays in the headstock, bound tortoise shell pickguard is perfect too. Had a little delamination on back to side behind tailpiece (mostly loose binding) that we had luthier Dave Doucet fix - perfect job - checked it completely inside and out and it's tight as a drum, no binding deterioration is happening. An amazing fine - carved top and back, has a fat powerful sound - will be worth stupid bucks in the future... Sell with original hardshell case for... Epiphone Masterbilt Deluxe Jazz Guitar An outstanding example of what many say (including Phil) is the best carved-top jazz guitar ever made, period. Has all the cool important appointments - offset headstoch shape, “shell” shaped engraved fretboard inlays, Frequensator tailpiece. It’s been carefully restored by luthier Dave Doucet (he was Matt Umanov’s repair guy in NYC for 16 years). All binding carefully replaced except headstock binding (original), the original finish has been “French polished” to clean up chips, lacquer checking, etc. - not refinished. Looks bone stock and very cool - Dave carefully hand-made a multi-bound tortoise shell exact reproduction pickguard and bracket - look exactly like original. A crack-free example that “has that sound”, very easy to play - an amazing guitar, will go way up in value, sell with originnal hardshell case for...

History Brand L-5CN These were what brought on the threatened lawsuits by Gibson, and they never came to the U.S.A. - has the dead-on Gibson headstock shape, beautifully made, lightweight and responsive, nice wide C neck. Fancy woods and appointments, an historically important guitar that will go way up in value. Sell with original hard case for the same price as the Ibanez L-5C (which are much more common and not as accurate) for... View front-side close-up headstock back-side close-up back close-up |

"Radio Deluxe" Pre-war 16" wide archtop jazz guitar, I have never heard of this brand, and never seen one of these before - and I've been playing/restoring/buying and selling archtops for 40 years - a realy mystery guitar. It is total pro-quality, kind of an early D'Angelico 16" archtop kind of quality - much better than early Gretsch - as good as early Epiphones. The only info I got with this was that the engraved pearl inlays were done by the person that did Gibson's engraved inlays... Nice condition - all-originaly, has a very sool sassy sound - perforct for early jazz. Was in a private collection for decades, now available. Just in.... Regal Round-Hole Archtop Guitar These rare guitars were made in Chicago, and there are many levels of quality. This one is total pro-quality throughout, it really looks like they bought the body (back and sides) from Martin - looks like a Martin C-series to me, but I don't know. Nice quality though, has a hube V neck, very long scale (26") like a Selmer jazz guitar. Has a pressed/formed spruce top, really barks - perfect for early jazz/Eddie Lang type music - great for blues too. The original bakelite plastic pickguard has warped some, and is included in the case. Phil knows his archtop round-hole guitars (been playing/recording with them for over 30 years) and he really digs this guitar. An old original 1930s Archtop, U.S.A-made, for a good price. Sell with case for... View front close-up view back view back close-up view fretboard view sound hole |
